In its 3Q07 SEC filing, ATT stated that its goal for the number of homes passed by its VDSL FTTN network by the end of 2008 has been lowered a bit to 17 million, which is 1 million less than its previous estimate.
The company also stated that as the end of 3Q07 that its FTTN network passed 5.5 million homes and that it was marketing the U-verse service to about 40 percent of them.
ATT has to triple its VDSL FTTN deployment over the next fifteen months to make this objective. This will be difficult to accomplish. I certainly hope they do it. I am looking forward to becoming a U-verse subscriber some time next week.
