Reliance in India has confirmed that it will use Microsoft's Mediaroom software for its IPTV launch in March. It plans to introduce IPTV services in Delhi and Mumbai at that time. Reliance said that it will have the exclusive deployment rights for Microsoft's software in India in a deal that has been said to be worth $500 million.
Reliance and Microsoft have been working together for a long time, so this announcements confirms a long standing relationship. Reliance joins other major carriers in India in introducing IPTV services in Delhi and Mumbai. It appears that these will be very competitive markets next year.
