U-verse Blog

Here is a link to a blog by a new U-verse user. Installation was tough but U-verse has some interesting new features, such as the ability to record four channels at the same time on the set-box's hard disk.

I am going to continue to watch this blog and I will let you know if anything else interesting turns up.

Do NOT get this service. While they may say it is available in your area, when it comes time to install they will tell you that it is not in your area.

This is a sweeping statement. Can you give us more details of your experience, including where it happened?

uverse voice (voip) launches next month in dallas, also they have 2 streams of HD and the whole home dvr is comming this X-Mas. Uverse is the only IP-based tv service so the future looks bright for AT&T. he only limitation with the service is your distance from the SAI, which they are constantly improving on

This is good news for those in Dallas. Now, if ATT would make U-verse available in San Francisco so I could get it, I would be happy.

Seriously, ATT has made a lot of progress with U-verse over the last year and it is becoming a serious threat to cable and satellite where it is available.

I have been an ATT telephone customer for years, and I just recently became a U-Verse customer just outside of Indianapolis and thought I was making a good decision to switch from cable. However, I now wish I had my cable service back and I seriously thinking about dropping all ATT services. Here is how I came to this. First, I still have yet to get HD service which was promised to me at installation two weeks ago; furthermore, I have not had phone service, which had worked, ever since the so-called professional installation. Third, their customer service is absolutely awful. Every person you talk to has the same excuse that they are not capable of answering any questions and must talk to another department; furthermore, when you actually get a technician at your house they proclaim they can not work on U-Verse connections and can only work with outside telephone lines. Forth, it is extremely hard to tell from their advertising what you actually get. For instance each household is limited to one physical DVR box as well as limited viewing/recording at the same time throughout the entire household (in other words each box is not separate in terms of getting separate signals). To further explain the limited viewing, I will sum it up by saying that you can only record and watch so much at the same time due to the limited amount of bandwidth you receive. I would not recommend U-Verse until ATT increases their staff to keep up with increasing demand for this ever-promising service.

I placed an order for U-verse on Dec 30th 2008. As of this date it still has not been installed. They have given me 2 separate installation dates and they failed to show for both of them. I have spent over 8 hours on the phone with managers and they all agree AT&T has messed up but they don't do anything. If the installation process is anything to go by, I don't think I want the service. I'm going to call cable tonight. To make me feel better I did send a letter to the AT&T Chairman and CEO letting him know that as a stockholder I didn't appreciate the incompentent service.

I would highly recommend against getting U-verse from A T & T it stinks. Occassionally you can talk on the phone, go on the internet or watch tv but just wait a few minutes or hours and then you will have none. The tv picture freezes, the internet stops and calls are either dropped or message on teleohone "check tel line". Then the real fun begins Moe, Curley & Larry show up wanting to know what's wrong when nothing is working. God help if you don't check it out in your Zip.

I previously had Comcast and became unhappy with their customer service. I decided to go with AT&T U-Verse because of the two specials they were offering. One a $250 rebate and the 2nd offer was the first month free.

That did not happen. I have had AT&T now for two months and no rebate and no free month. When I signed up I was assigned my own "personal" representative, who will not even return my calls or answer my emails.

At this point, I plan to cancel AT&T and go back to Comcast. Their customer service is not the best, but atleast they don't lie.
