Telia Sonera Adds 20K IPTV Subscribers

Telia Sonera ended 2Q08 with 427 thousand IPTV subscribers across all of its operations, an increase of 20 thousand during the quarter. The country by country results include:

• Sweden ended the quarter with 320 thousand IPTV subscribers, an increase of 2 thousand.
• Norway ended the quarter with 8 thousand IPTV subscribers, an increase of 4 thousand.
• Lithuania ended the quarter with 35 thousand IPTV subscribers, an increase of 10 thousand.
• Estonia ended the quarter with 64 thousand IPTV subscribers, an increase of 4 thousand.

Telia Sonera's growth continues to slow, especially in Sweden. This seems to be a reflection of the fact that it added only 11 thousand new broadband subscribers across all of its operations. Clearly it is selling IPTV primarily to its existing base of broadband subscribers.
